Dr. Muhammad Sherif has joined the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alabama – Birmingham in Fall 2019. Dr. Sherif received his graduate education and training in structural engineering at Carnegie Mellon University and University of Virginia. His current research interest is in the general area of future generation of smart materials and structural systems with topics ranging from development/characterization of innovative materials, to the use of machine learning and numerical models of structural systems. Dr. Sherif is always on the lookout for working with self-motivated students on exciting and challenging topics in multidisciplinary areas.
